Situated on Waterside in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon, directly opposite the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, we are proud to balance a central, year-round location with responsible practices that reduce our environmental impact and support our local community.
Green Tourism has been independently assessing travel, tourism and hospitality businesses for more than 27 years, awarding Bronze, Silver and Gold certifications.
We achieved Bronze in 2023, progressed to Silver in 2024, and are now proud to have reached Gold, reflecting steady progress, team-wide commitment and long-term change rather than one-off initiatives.
One of the key factors behind our Gold award is the significant progress we have made in reducing food waste. In 2025, we reduced food waste by nearly 50 percent compared to the previous year.
This has been achieved through more considered purchasing, improved waste segregation, on-site composting and the anaerobic digestion of remaining food waste. These practices are now part of our daily operations and continue to shape how we work across the hotel.
We have also been recognised for creating our own kitchen garden within our Stratford grounds. Fresh produce grown on site is used in-house for guests to enjoy when dining, as well as for garnishes in our seasonal cocktails.
It is something our guests particularly love – enjoying food grown on grounds associated with William Shakespeare, just moments from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
